Organizational Assessment for an Innovative Global Telecom Company
The Need
This organization set up a high-level, cross-functional team of executives to develop new products and services related to homeland security. The team was comprised of 17 senior executives from different disciplines with team members nominated from their discipline or department. In the initial six months the team had been working towards developing new products, however several issues had surfaced which impacted the performance of this high profile team. The VP felt it essential to identify and address these barriers to high performance.
The Piñon Group Approach
Using a System Mapping® framework, we conducted an organizational assessment to identify the underlying issues that impacted the team’s performance. We then interviewed each member of the team to identify their perception of the current situation, supported by qualitative data. We used this data to build an Alignment Map to help the team identify areas where they saw things the same (were aligned), and areas where they did not (were not aligned). During a facilitated session we were able to uncover the potential blockages to their performance issues and build sustainable action plans. Subsequently, we conducted a quarterly System Mapping® review to help the team measure the improvement in their ability to work together and accelerate their team performance.
